Message As with most that visit this forum for a technical resource I get pretty frustrated when I find a post with the same issue I am tackling and there is NO Follow-up post with the solution.

That said I'm posting a follow-up to my Stuck Driveshaft post in the Tech forum last week. Unfortunately the post is LOCKED so here's the link.

Many thanks to those that replied.

I followed TriniTT's suggestion and ended up removing the 4 bolts holding the moustache bar which supports the front of the diff. I was then able to muscle the DS out of the carrier. It was tight as hell. Thankfully the Transmission output shaft slid right out with little effort. The splines look fine. The DS is obviously a VERY tight fit. I'm not sure if this is normal I had about an inch of play when replacing the DS in my other Z.

Here's a photo of the spline.

I'm not looking forward to getting this DS back in. What's the best way to get an extra 1/4" clearance between the Tranny and Diff? My guess is that it's not ideal having the driveline so tight with no play at the transmission output shaft.

Is moving the motor forward a touch the only way? I doubt it'd be possible to move the diff or subframe back without a ridiculous amount of effort.
